Barber shop shave?

anyone ever had one? whats the difference?

seems to me like they could slice you up if someone had the yips or sneezed.

ive got pretty bad skin and a good deal of razor burn when i shave. im looking for something sensitive ;)Barber shop shave?
I have gotten a barber shop shave a few times. The main difference is that they use a straight razor (just a super sharp knife really). It is sort of cool experience that feels like part of another time. There are some good things, they put a hot wet face cloth on your face to soften it up and use hot foam. But I would not recommend it if you suffer from razor burn as the straight razor gave me more razor burn than I usually get.

Some of the tricks of the barber shop can help with your razor burn though. These steps should help:

1) wait twenty minutes after waking up before shaving (skin tends to be puffy when you first wake up)

2) Then wash your face (with a face cleanser for men's faces, not soap that will dry it out).

3) Then warm your face (take a hot shower or lay a hot wet face cloth on it for a few minutes) This really makes shaving go easier on your face.

4) Use a shaving gel or cream (but not too thick that will clog the razor).

5) Shave with the grain of your beard, not against it. Don't push against your skin.

6) Rinse your blade out regularly as you go.

7) Use a toner or aftershave balm that is non-alcohol based (will dry your skin) and look for one that says ';non-comedogenic'; (won't clog your pores) if you have trouble with acne.

8) Replace the blade every 4-6 timesBarber shop shave?
Nope ...never had one but I did find some information for you and I am sending you a link you might want to read a little bit about shaving in general

A barbershop shave starts with you lying back in a big leather barber chair while the barber wraps your face in hot towels for a few minutes to open up your pores and soften your whiskers. Then he lathers you up with a brush and cream, and masterfully guides the bare straight razor blade over your cheeks and chin so closely you can hear each whisker pop from across the room. After he鈥檚 done shaving you, he鈥檒l wrap your face in more hot towels and then finish you off with some after-shave treatment and maybe even a wake-up nudge 鈥?contrary to what you might think, getting a really good barbershop shave is so relaxing for many men that they often fall asleep even as the straight razor is gliding over their Adam鈥檚 apple.
